* According to the assessment of candidate qualification the Commission may recommend her/his employment in an assistant or assistant professor position.

 

Current research program of the Department of Neurotoxicology:

  • cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying neurological diseases (hyperammonemic encephalopathies, temporal epilepsy, anxiety disorders);
  • astrocyte/neuronal/endothelial interactions in pathomechanism of neurological disorders;
  • glutaminases in malignant gliomas phenotype.

 

The area of the research in which the candidate would participate:

  • investigation of cellular and molecular processes involved in the pathogenesis of neurological diseases with a focus on transporters/ion channels in neurotransmission;
  • metabolic and behavioural study on implemented animal models (mouse).

 

Description of job position activities:

  • active participation in the scientific activities of the Department, Institute and scientific community;
  • participation in research projects implementations in accordance with the requirements of the financing institution;
  • data analysis, writing reports on the research carried out, manuscript preparation;
  • drafting conference abstracts and scientific manuscripts, participation in seminars, courses and training;
  • grant applications;
  • representing the Institute at scientific conferences.

 

Requirements for the position of assistant:

  • Master of Science (MSc) or equivalent in medical, biological or related sciences;
  • experience in molecular biology and in working with primary cells cultures,
  • indication of Mossakowski Medical Research Institute, Polish Academy of Sciences as the first place of employment;
  • fluency in English.

 

Additional requirements (desirable):

  • publications in scientific journals indexed in JCR;
  • documented active participation in conferences;
  • ability to work with animals (relevant certificates or trainings);
  • basic knowledge in chromatography, electrophysiological analysis;
  • knowledge of genetic engineering techniques (cell transfection);
  • competence in statistical methods used in scientific research;
  • creativity, self-independence and very good organization of laboratory work;
  • teamwork skills.

 

Requirements for the position of the assistant professor:

  • at least Ph.D. degree in medical, biological, or related sciences;
  • at least 2 original scientific publications in scientific journals indexed in JCR including at least one of which the candidate is the first, equivalent, or corresponding author, published after the doctorate, but not containing the results of the doctorate;
  • experience in molecular biology, genetics, working with cells cultures;
  • indication of Mossakowski Medical Research Institute, Polish Academy of Sciences as the first place of employment;
  • documented active participation in conferences;
  • fluency in English.

 

Additional requirements (desirable) for the position of assistant professor:

  • ability to work with animal models;
  • experience in biochemical technics and microscopy technics;
  • basic knowledge of analytic apparatus (HPLC; flow cytometry);
  • competence in statistical methods used in scientific research;
  • creativity, readiness for new tasks, teamwork skills.
